The fact that you’re still reading means you really need a hobby. But that’s fine, I appreciate your dedicating all this free time to my nonsense!
So, as I said in my last post, I didn’t have a successful first trip on MetroAccess, as scheduled, for Monday the 17th. Sidebar, I used to be a very prolific writer, and followed the RULES, man. Now, I see things like “didn’t” and other contractions peppered throughout my writing, and it makes my 10-years-ago-self throw up in her mouth a little. In any case, Monday was a total fail, Tuesday was a “snow” day, and so here we are at Wednesday!
My AM trip I think was fairly uneventful, since I don’t remember it… However, my PM trip was worth mentioning. Again, because they’ve give me such a scare about how strict the five minute policy is, and how I will be put on probation if I’m late, or no show, etc, I was ready to go the SECOND my “window” started. My window was, let’s say, 4-430pm, for the sake of argument. I was ready and sitting in the office lobby by 4:01, packed and ready, checking my emails on my phone, doing lots of important face booking, etc. My window comes and goes. I wait an additional 30 minutes, rather than the TWO HOURS I waited on Monday (fool me once….) and then I called WMATA. The dispatcher says according to GPS, he is at least another 30 minutes away. Thanks but no thanks, I will just take an Uber.
I Uber home, leaving my knee scooter at work, since I can’t hike it up the stairs on my own, and I’m SURE the Uber driver is not interested in doing it for me. I take the stairs up, it’s raining, I’m a klutz (that’s how I got here in the first place, for God’s sake…) and my crutches go out from under me. I slip and come straight down on my cast, see stars, and almost pass out. The point here? Metro made my leg hurt. The end.
I would like to take this opportunity to give you a glimpse of the MetroAccess suspension policy.
MY question is, when do *I* get reciprocity? Like, can I suspend THEM? I feel like an acceptable trade would be, if they screw ME over, more than 10% of the time in one calendar month, I should get free cab service for my rides, for the corresponding amount of time that I would be suspended for, should it be the other way around! I bet they would be on time then!
